I am a business major at LBCC majoring in business administration. I enrolled into Principals of Marketing 223 since its one of the specific electives I have to take in order to graduate this coming summer. It wasn't in my original plan to take this class this term but having changes in my schedule it was the only class available that would work with me. I had a few experience working in a marketing department at Samaritan Health Plans in Corvallis, so this class should bring back what I worked with.  I am not a Marketing major at the moment but its something I have thought about so having this class available for me, should be a great way to see if its a good fit for me. What I'm looking forward about this class is learning to have a successful company and what it takes to keep it to be known for a long period of time. Be remarkable and unique.
Besides being a student, outside of school I enjoy being outdoors going on hikes usually with my friends or cousins. I love to be on social media, so I am constantly checking what's new. I love to see new trends come to life so having media provide it, is really convenient.

Why Fitness Franchises Are Booming

This article talks about how an enthusiastic woman opened her once day dream job. Anna Dey, owner of Dey’s Fitness in Concord, Ohio, a passionate fitness lover claims that her passion for fitness lead her to begin her own successful gym. She talks about how after graduating from college and working for Altria a cigarette business, she realized that her true passion was the fitness industry. Later throughout time she got certified as a trainer and decided it was time to do what she loves the most. She knew she had to have someone with business knowledge and savings to invest in her gym. Dey right way thought about her father. After a first rejection, she gathered more information, like presenting both her parents a cash-flow and startup-cost estimates for her different gym models. Having great information and convincing her mother at first, her father was drawn later to make this work. Within few months as she reported in this article, Dey and her father united a contract with Anytime Fitness, a Minnesota based outfit. They signed a lease and begun a grand-opening flyer into newspaper boxes around town. When they opened the new gym, she had already had 196 one-year memberships. As the year went on they reached 1,000 members. The rest of the article talks about how the fitness-franchise business is becoming successful and will continue to do so in the next few years and that anyone who has a passion for fitness, it’s a great time to be part of this franchise.
One main point that stood out from this article the most that applies to marketing is Anna Dey’s passion. This week we talked about a business is successful, and one of those reasons where the passion a business person must have to be a great business. Dey had that passion and never let anything or anyone doubt that she couldn’t make her dream possible. If you wish for it, do it! Another point that applies to marketing is that she begun to ad flyers in the newspaper. Although it wasn’t stated that it was what helped her become known, she had people on the first month signed up for memberships.
I’ve learned quite a lot of information in this article. I, myself am a member at my local Orange theory fitness gym, and I can say that there are a lot of many more options for me to work out on, but the passion my trainers have for their job makes it hard leave it even if it’s more expensive than a regular membership in Snap fitness. After reading this article it easier to see how having someone work on something they love, can truly effect the customer.

Although this business doesn’t specifically indicate what their value proposition is, they mention that this new business has been beneficial for both their life. I guess it would be living a healthier life style.
